The Formula 1 season has only just begun, but Max Verstappen has already indicated that he is not yet fully satisfied with his car. After the first race and test sessions, the Red Bull driver stated that the team still needs to make progress to be truly comfortable fighting for victories.
During interviews after the first race weekends, Verstappen indicated that the car's balance still doesn't feel quite right. Especially in certain corners and when exiting slow sections, the car is reportedly not as stable as he would like.
Balance and setup issues
According to Verstappen, the problem isn't necessarily in pure speed, but more in the car's consistency throughout a lap. The Red Bull seems very fast in some parts of the track, but more difficult to control in others.
This makes it difficult to drive a perfect lap or to maintain the same speed consistently during the race.
The team is therefore working hard on improvements in setup and aerodynamics. Engineers collect as much data as possible during free practice and races to understand exactly where the car is falling short.
Season still long
Despite the criticism, Verstappen also emphasized that the season is still long. In Formula 1, the development of a car throughout the year can make a big difference.
Many teams regularly bring upgrades to races. This can significantly change the balance of power during the season.
Red Bull is known for often implementing improvements quickly once problems are found.
Focus on improvement
For Verstappen, the focus remains primarily on finding the right balance and setup. With many races still on the calendar, there is plenty of time to further develop the car.
Fans will therefore be closely watching in the upcoming race weekends whether Red Bull succeeds in further improving the car and fully competing for victories again.
What do you think: will Red Bull get the car fully sorted again quickly? 🏁
