The F1 2027 calendar is out: Here's what's changing in the new Formula 1 season

De F1 2027-kalender is bekend: Dit verandert er in het nieuwe Formule 1-seizoen

Although the current Formula 1 season is still in full swing, motorsport's premier class is already looking ahead. The FIA and Formula 1 have presented the official F1 2027 calendar.

The organization is continuing its established course of more efficient logistics and restructuring a number of iconic race weekends. In addition, there is big news for fans: iconic circuits in Portugal (Portimão) and Turkey (Istanbul Park) are making their official return to the calendar! We have listed the main highlights and changes for you.

Key changes to the 2027 calendar

Formula 1 continues to focus on clear geographical 'blocks' to reduce travel between countries and minimize the sport's footprint.

  • Return of Portugal and Turkey: After several years of absence, the spectacular rollercoaster circuit of Portimão (Portuguese GP) and the technical Istanbul Park with its notorious Turn 8 (Turkish GP) are returning to the highest level.

  • Season opener in the Middle East: The season traditionally kicks off in March with a double-header in the Middle East, after which the caravan travels on to Asia and Australia.

  • Clustered European summer: The races in Europe – including Portugal, Spain, Spa-Francorchamps, and Monza – once again form a tightly consecutive series during the summer months.

  • American & Asian flyaways: In the autumn, the action moves via Turkey back to North and South America, with the spectacular night race in Las Vegas as one of the final highlights.

Sustainability and streamlined logistics

The 2027 agenda has been designed with extra attention to the balance between personnel and environmental impact. By scheduling races in the same regions (such as the race blocks in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the Americas) directly consecutively, teams fly back and forth across the ocean less often.
